Bengaluru Terminal 2 images used to claim as those of new airport in Arunachal Pradesh; Fact Check

A video has been making rounds on social media claiming that it shows Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Nov 19, 2022.

The claim reads: “Arunachal pradesh added this Airport to the state mostly made from BAMBU, Wow… Can’t believe it… They are doing it here in India. Amazing Bharat.” The video contained a large, modern airport terminal with decorations suspended from the ceiling.

FACT CHECK

Since the video resembled the recent Bengaluru Terminal 2 decorations for those familiar with Bengaluru airport, the Digiteye India team took it up and found that the video was not of Arunachal Pradesh’s airport but that of Bengaluru.

When PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bengaluru Terminal 2 on November 11, 2022, the video was widely shared on social media as shown below:

In fact, Arunachal Pradesh’s Donyi Polo airport images were circulated officially by the DGCA on October 19, 2022 below:

Hence, the news may be correct but the claim that the image belongs to Arunachal Pradesh’s new airport was wrong. The image was that of Bengaluru airport.
