FACT CHECK
DigitEye India decided to verify this footage and conducted a reverse image search of the keyframes from the video on Google. We found that the person in the video was not Rajnikanth and that it’s a case of misrepresentation.
The search revealed that the video claiming that Rajnikanth had fallen was the CCTV footage of Karnataka-based journalist Rajaram Tallur and the video was uploaded on his facebook page a week ago, July 24, 2025, with a fun caption.
Find the link to the facebook post here.
Rajaram Tallur wrote how he “went to bring a bundle of newspapers” that morning and his leg slipped. He reassured in the caption that he had not suffered any injuries and this video was “a small piece captured on the security camera of the home.”
Moreover, Rajaram Tallur has addressed these fake news and claims, penning down a post on 31 July. Find the link to the post by Tallur addressing the fake news here.
A Times of India report and MSN report later mentioned an official clarification by Rajnikanth’s PR team on the issue. The reports said that an official “statement has come from the team stating that the confusion caused because the person’s face in the video was not clearly visible, and that Rajinikanth is currently fine.”
Hence, the claim that Rajnikanth fell down while collecting the morning newspaper is false. Usually such claims surface ahead of the Tamil star Rajnikanth’s new movie releases and this time his upcoming “Coolie” is set for release on August 14, 2025.
