Some social media posts are being shared with a claim that Taylor Swift was banned from Country Music after she endorsed Kamala Harris in the US Presidential election.

A viral meme posted on X claimed: “Taylor Swift Banned from Country Music After Big Endorsement: “She Should Stick to Singing, Not Politics”: In a twist that could have been written in one of her own breakup ballads, country music has seemingly dumped Taylor Swift.”

Earlier this month, pop music icon Taylor Swift, who had earlier been a strong Republican and Trump supporter had been in the news for shifting her support to Harris on September 10, 2024. Following her open endorsement, several memes and false allegations have been shared on social media, including the recent one.

The post received more than 2,400 reactions and 1,000 comments and stirred a heated debate on social media platforms on Swift’s endorsement.

FACT CHECK

Our search revealed that the original post appeared on Facebook and the message mentioned it as a satire. It has given a link to the website  SpaceXMania.com, which is a satirical website. Otherwise, our search for Nashville’s country music elite’s reactions or statements did not elicit any evidence to the effect that the pop star has been banned from country music.

The meme that is circulating on social media has given a link to an article from SpaceXMania.com. When we searched for its authenticity, the results clearly show that it was a satirical website, with disclaimers stating that the stories are fictional and not real. This is not the first time Taylor Swift has been targeted for endorsing Kamala Harris. Hence, the claim is false.
Previous rumors falsely claimed she lost millions of social media followers after endorsing Harris or that Coca-Cola ended its partnership with her for similar reasons, which was debunked.
