In the video, when an interviewer asked Nehru about the Partition of India, he said: “I was not involved in the fight for independence at all. In fact, opposed it, the Muslim League was started about 1911, I think, it was started by the British, encouraged by them to create factions in our society. They did succeed to some extent and ultimately there came the partition.”
Further when the interviewer asked if Mahatma Gandhi had favoured the partition, Nehru, quickly replied, “Mr Gandhi was not in favor of it to the end, even when it came he was not in favor of it. I was not in favor of it either but ultimately I decided like others. It is better to have a partition than this constant trouble.”
FACT-CHECK
Digiteye India took it up for fact checking as the claim sounded unbelievable. Independent India’s first Prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who actively participated in India’s freedom struggle along with Mahatma Gandhi and many other freedom fighters, is known as per the historical records. Taking key words like Nehru’s interview, independence, freedom strugle, Gandhi and partition from the claimed video, we checked and were able to locate the original video from the “Prasar Bharati Archives.”
Original videos from “Prasar Bharati Archives” can be seen below:

In the Original video , we can clearly see Nehru saying, “Mr Jinnah was not involved in the fight for independence at all, in fact, he opposed it.” So, it’s clear that he was referring to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was representing the Muslim League and was in favour of the partition from the beginning. The video in the claim is altered and modified to make a false claim that Nehru was saying he was not involved in the Freedom Struggle.
Hence, the claim is false.
Claim: A video of Jawaharlal Nehru shows him saying he was not involved in the fight for independence.
Conclusion: The claim is false. The audio of the video interview of Nehru on Muhammad Ali Jinnah was altered to sound as Nehru saying that he was not involved in the fight for independence.
