In this clip, she appears to say: “As you can see, the way the Election Commission insulted people… insulted voters… and the voters whose names were mentioned are now expressing their displeasure…”
FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is false. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut did not support Rahul Gandhi, instead criticised the opposition, saying even after EC reprimanded Rahul Gandhi, he is creating “tamasha” (drama).
Rahul Gandhi, as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has accused the ECI of colluding with the BJP to manipulate voter lists and enable “vote chori”. He cited examples like over 1 lakh alleged fake voters in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura segment, which he said helped the BJP win the Bangalore Central seat during the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The ANI has shared the original footage with the title: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut slams Rahul Gandhi over EC rebuke, says INDIA bloc creating drama after EC rap. View the clip here.
One can see the video where she says: “As you can see, the Election Commission has reprimanded Rahul Gandhi yesterday for the way he insulted people… insulted voters… and the voters whose names were mentioned are now expressing their displeasure… They have been insulted in their societies. Rahul Gandhi has destroyed their reputations…”
However, this video clip has been selectively tweaked and edited to create a narrative that Kangana is criticizing the Election Commission, whereas she is actually targeting Rahul Gandhi for insulting voters by naming them in his allegations. In turn, she defended the electoral process.
Hence the claim is Misleading.
