Amid growing number of headlines when the Income Tax department recovered about Rs.350 crore from Jharkhand Congress Member of Parliament Dhiraj Sahu’s premises in Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal, several social media claims appeared that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has showed his support for Sahu.
The claim said Kejriwal made a statement that said: “Dheeraj Sahu is being framed with false allegations. I am an educated man, I have read the Constitution of India and it is not written on any page that one cannot keep cash at home.”
“धीरज साहू पर जूठा आरोप लगा कर फसाया जा रहा है, में पढ़ा लिखा आदमी हुँ, मैने भारत का संविधान पढ़ा है, घर में कैश नहीं रख सखते ऐसा किसी भी पन्ने पर नहीं लिखा है।”

FACT CHECK
When Digiteye India checked for the veracity of the claim as it looked suspicious that a chief minister would openly support such stockpiling of currency notes at home, we found that there was no such news in any media outlet nor was it telecast by any TV news channel.
When we searched for the original statement on X (formerly Twitter), we could see that the account under the name ‘AAP ka Kishann’ that had posted it originally on December 11. And it was shared by others.
When searched, the profile of the account of ‘AAP ka Kishann’ clearly states: “Not affiliated with any Political Party | All tweets are Satire | Just for Fun | Die hard Fan of Arvind Kejariwal (sic)”.
When we looked for the image source on Google reverse Image Search, we found that it was from November 17, 2023 when Kejriwal was participating in the AAP’s party workers conference held in Delhi.
See the full video on Youtube here. Using the video with a false claim, the narrative is to mislead the social media viewers that Kejriwal was supporting corruption.
Claim: Video clip shows Delhi CM Kejriwal supporting Dhiraj Sahu, in whose premises Rs.300 crore currency notes were found stashed in rows.
Conclusion: FALSE. Kejriwal never said anything on Dhiraj Sahu and the claim was made on a parody account of Twitter.
