Recently, numerous social media users are circulating a post, claiming that NSA Ajit Doval has urged Indians to uninstall Amazon. The decision allegedly comes as a response to escalating tariff tensions with the United States. This purported call aims to economically pressurize the US by boycotting Amazon, a major American company earning significant revenue from India. Facebook user ‘संदीप बिजारणियाँ’ shared such a claim in Hindi which can be seen below –

Translated into English the claim reads : “This revelation by Doval shocked everyone. All Indians can give a blow to America for the tariff war by removing Amazon from their mobile phones. You can make America bow down by sitting at home with the power of your mobile phones. We all are responsible for this.
Nothing is more important than the country in times of trouble. Amazon receives 60 lakh orders every day. If it earns even Rs 100 on each order, then its daily earnings would be Rs 60 crore and its annual earnings would be Rs 2190000000000. Just by removing Amazon, we have to give a befitting reply to America, make them realize the population of India. This population is not for the destruction of India, this population is the one that will take India to the number one position in the world, Jai Hind, there is no bigger gift than this on Independence Day for Mother India. Why should the government alone fight America, this is our country also. Jai Hind, Vande Mataram”

FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is false. The claim lacks credible backing from official records or Doval’s public statements. Extensive searches across government portals and news websites reveal no evidence of such a directive from Doval.
Details:
We first conducted a web search with the phrase “Ajit Doval’s statement on uninstalling Amazon” to learn more. Official government websites, including the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) contain no press releases, speeches or statements from Doval advocating an Amazon boycott or app uninstallation.
According to a report by The Hindu published on 10 January, 2026 Ajit Doval emphasized building a strong India but made no mention of tariffs, Amazon or boycotts. The report mentions that Doval said, “We have to avenge our history and take this country to the point where it is great again not just in terms of border security, but economy, social development, every aspect.”
He further stated that conflicts in the world are born out of security concerns and from “imposing one’s terms on the other country for security.” View a section from the report below –

Following this, we came across another report by Reuters on August 7, 2025 that covers Doval’s visit to Russia amid US 50% tariff on India. The report states “Russia and India stressed their commitment to a “strategic partnership” in bilateral security talks” after the imposition of US tariffs. However, there were no mentions about Amazon boycott or any such suggestion from Ajit Doval. View a section from the report below –

A TOI report published on 5 January 2026 mentions about “India has urged the US to roll back the additional 25% tariffs” as claimed by Senator Lindsey Graham. India’s official trade responses include Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra urging tariff relief in talks with US officials, highlighting “how India is buying less Russian oil.” However, the report does not mention any consumer actions against US firms such as boycotting or uninstalling Amazon at the directions of Ajit Doval. On the other hand back on 8th August, 2025, The Print mentions how RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch called for boycotting US companies like Amazon, Walmart and Flipkart post-US tariffs. However, this does not reflect the official stance of the Government of India. Furthermore, this is not connected to NSA Ajit Doval and is not linked to any of his statements or policies.
Ahit Doval was emphasizing on India’s border security, overall development , strategic partnership with Russia amid US high tariffs, but no where we see him mentioning about boycotting Amazon.
Claim is made by taking random file picture of Ajit Doval.
Thus, the claim is false.
