FACT-CHECK

When Digiteye India received a request for fact-checking the same, the team looked for the original video and the context. The original video is available on Congress Party’s YouTube channel as seen below:

The context was inauguration of the new All India Congress Committee (AICC) building Indira Bhavan in Delhi on January 15, 2025 by Congress leaders.

After Rahul Gandhi’s speech, Delhi Congress leader Ajay Maken urged Congress President Kharge to address, Rahul Gandhi, who had just finished his address moved to help Kharge get up by pulling his chair back (timestamp of 46:45 min) so he could move easily towards the mike to address the meeting. Hence, the claim that he insulted Kharge is false.

Claim: Video shows Rahul Gandhi insulted Kharge.
Conclusion: Misleading. Rahul Gandhi is seen helping Kharge to get up from chair and move to the mike.
Rating: Misleading —
