A video featuring Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai is circulating on social media, with a claim that he is endorsing an investment platform called ‘Google Invest’ where higher returns are guaranteed.
In the video, Pichai is shown as saying, “Google invest is not just a platform, it is your personal key to financial independence and stability. With our revolutionary technology, you can easily grow your savings from the comfort of your home. Be part of the new wave of success available only to Indian citizens. Just think, with an investment of just INR 20,000 you can earn a steady income of INR 180,000 per month.. Let Google invest be your trusted partner in the world of finance…”
The viral clip shared on FaceBook (now removed) shows Pichai allegedly promoting the scheme whereby ₹1.9 lakh can be earned in a month on a ₹21,000 investment. The video also includes journalist Palki Sharma Upadhyay seated behind a news desk featuring a banner with the claim: “INVEST 21,000 RUPEES, RECEIVE 190,000 RUPEES IN THE FIRST MONTH.”
Social media users shared the post that further states: “For Indian citizens only. Seats for registration are limited!”
FACT CHECK
Digiteye India received a request to fact-check the same on its WhatsApp tipline and we took it and found too many anomalies in the video and the claim as Google CEO never endorses such schemes. Further scrutiny of the visuals revealed that it was an AI-generated video.
To begin with, the visuals of Sundar Pichai were traced back to an older video from October 24, 2021, where he was speaking about climate change—not investments. This speech was originally uploaded to his verified Instagram account and published on the official Google blog under the title: “Climate change is humanity’s next big moonshot.”
Further scrutiny reveals that an unnatural protrusion of the chin, blurring artifacts visible near Pichai’s chin and neck, indicating AI-generated video. Even the FirstPost logo seen in the video was manipulated from the actual FirstPost video uploaded on January 15, 2025, which made no mention of ‘Google Invest’ or any financial scheme.
Hence, the video claim is false.
Claim: Video shows Google CEO Sundar Pichai urging Indians to invest in platform called ‘Google Invest’.
Conclusion: Misrepresentation. The video featuring Sundar Pichai promoting ‘Google Invest’ is an AI-generated video with voice and visual manipulations.
