FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is totally false. There are no reports or credible evidence that proves the killers of Osman Hadi were Indian nationals who crossed the Indian border, entered into Bangladesh. Moreover, the images attached in the post are baseless, punctuated with inconsistencies and do not prove anything.
We first conducted a web search with the phrase “Osman Hadi killers caught on CCTV” to learn more about the claim. However, we did not find any credible reports that suggest any Indians were caught on camera. Hadi, 32, a spokesperson for Inquilab Mancha was shot in the head on December 12, 2025, in Dhaka’s Purana Paltan while campaigning and died on December 18 in Singapore.
According to a report by FirstPost, the authorities of Bangladesh identified prime suspect Faisal Karim Masud as the shooter. View a section of the report below –

Other reports by WION and Telegraph have also mentioned that the prime suspect is Faisal Karim Masud which can be read here and here respectively. Following this, we searched for any statements issued by the Bangladesh Police regarding Indian suspects. According to a report published by The Times of India, “Additional Commissioner Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that the Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh entered India through Haluaghat border in Mymensingh with the help of local associates.”
The report further mentions how “a taxi driver named Sami transported them to Tura city in Meghalaya” and that Bangladesh and India are coordinating to catch the culprits. View a section from the report below:

The actual CCTV footage was later released, showing the identified killers wearing black clothing. There is no proof that they are Indian, and they are not the individuals shown in the claim. Screenshots of the footage, taken from a YouTube video by MIRROR NOW titled : “Osman Hadi’s Killer Identified By Bangladeshi Authorities, Look Out Notice Issued | Watch Video.” Check the screenshots attached below:

Lastly, we analyzed the photos shared in the claim purportedly showing “shooters crossing the border” into Bangladesh. After conducting a reverse image search on various elements of the photo in the claim, we landed on the original picture from an article published by The Indian Express on August 7, 2024. The image captures Russel Mondol (21), an engineering student who entered India through a border check point. View the comparison of the original and morphed image below –

Thus, the claim is totally false and the claim is made by morphing the image.
