Here’s another claim on Facebook which suggests that other countries use personalities but India uses designs.
FACT-CHECK
When we received a tip on our WhatsApp line, we checked for the authenticity of the coin and the claim. When we searched for the coin’s authencitiy on RBI’s page, we got the results showing that the coin was issued in 2007.
The occasion was to show Hasta Mudra postures in Bharatanatyam, the Indian classical dance. Not only the one rupee coin, but the RBI had issued 2 rupee coin and 50-paise coin as a part of the Hasta Mudra series from 2007 to 2011, as shown below:
#DidYouKnow: The mudras depicted on some Indian coins include Mushti (fist) on 50 paise, Shikhara (mountain peak) on 1 Rupee, and Kartari Mukha (two fingers) on 2 Rupees coins.#AmritMahotsav #EkBharatShreshthaBharat pic.twitter.com/jOw30D1cge

Besides the thumbs-up sign, the other two signs too signify the other key Mudras or postures during the dance. In fact, the thumbs up sign was the standard design used on 1 rupee coins from 2007 to 2011 and was not a special edition. Hence, the claim is false.
Claim: The Indian 1 rupee coin just has a dude giving a thumbs up on it.
Conclusion: Misleading. The One Rupee coin is a part of the Hasta Mudra series issued by RBI from 2007 to 2011 and not vague designs.
