A viral CCTV clip widely circulated on social media shows a young woman being forcefully taken into
a car by two men. The incident is described in posts as happening in India, with the attackers swiftly
kidnapping the girl in less than a minute. The video has been projected as a shocking example in India, highlighting how quickly the abduction happens on Indian streets.
One such post carried a caption in Hindi:
“देखो, भाजपा का सुशासन महज पलक झपकते 49 सेकें ड में लड़की ककडनैप कर ली जाती है……”
Translation (English): “See, under BJP’s good governance, in just 49 seconds a girl is kidnapped……”
This caption reinforces the claim that the video is from India and links it to political criticism of the
ruling party.
Another Instagram user posts the same video with caption: “Alert, Kidnapping cases are increasing rapidly under BJP’s rule. How the girl is being kidnapped.”

By conducting a reverse image search of key frames from the CCTV footage, we traced the same visuals posted on X platform, which reported that the Ecuadorian media had covered the incident as seen below:
Translated, the post reads: A woman was kidnapped by individuals traveling in a black car without license plates. It happened at 19:56 on Thursday, September 26 on the streets Ruiz de Castilla andana, in La América and Las Casas sector, north of #Quito Ecuador.

News reports by El Comercio and Ecuavisa (Ecuador’s mainstream outlets) also confirmed that the incident took place on 26th September 2024 in the Las Casas sector of Quito. The footage shows two men approaching a woman with a bouquet of flowers before forcing her into a black car without license plates.
Further reports from Teleamazonas news coverage confirm that the National Police of Ecuador located and rescued the woman who was kidnapped on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in the Las Casas sector, north of Quito. She was reported safe, and was later handed over to her relatives. Authorities carried out investigative work later to find the whereabouts of the suspects.
Thus, the incident happeded in Ecuador, not in India. The viral social media posts are false.
