Verified X user ‘JaipurDialogues’ shared such a video allegedly showing the Danish Parliament erupting in laughter over Donald Trump’s demands for a Nobel Peace Prize. The caption reads: “Danish Parliament laughs on Trump’s Nobel Peace Demand😂.” The post gained over 58,000 views and can be seen below –

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is false. The clip dates back to 2019 and captures laughter of the members about another incident, and this has no connection to Donald Trump or the Nobel Peace Prize. In reality, the moment relates to a parliamentary discussion about the Danish government buying four former circus elephants and a camel after banning wild animals in circuses, during which a lighthearted remark was made about the camel serving as companion for one of the elephants.

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes from the video to learn more about the context. The search took us to a report by CGTN news (with Video) published on October 5, 2019, titled : “Danish PM has laughing fit over story about an elephant and a camel” From the report we learnt that “PM Mette Frederiksen was telling a story about four circus elephants and a camel…camel was also bought by Denmark because it was the ‘best friend’ of one of the retired elephants.” View a section from the report below –
