Verified X user ‘_MAGA_NEWS_’ shared such a video, asserting that thousands of protesters flooded Copenhagen’s City Hall Square in Denmark on January 17, 2026, waving Danish and Greenlandic flags in a “Hands Off Greenland” demonstration. It describes the event as “anti-American rage” with chants of “Greenland is NOT FOR SALE!” The attached video shows an aerial view of a large crowd in a city square, marked with a “CLASH REPORT” logo. DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be true. Public demonstrations took place in Copenhagen on January 17, 2026, following backlash to Donald Trump’s statements on Greenland. Coverage from multiple independent and reputable news organizations verified that the protests actually occurred.

We first conducted a reverse image search from various keyframes of the video to learn about the source. The search took us to the original post uploaded by Clash Report on January 17, 2026. This post on X with over 139,000 views is captioned : “Thousands protested in Copenhagen against Trump’s threats to seize Greenland.” 

Other search results directed us to an article published by CNN that confirmed the authenticity. The article is titled : Thousands in Denmark rally against Trump: ‘We don’t want to be Americans’. From this, we also learned that “thousands turned out in the cities of Copenhagen, Aarhus, Aalborg and Odense to show solidarity with the Greenlandic population.” View a screenshot of this below – 

Another news outlet, ‘le journal de quebec’ in their report shed light on this incident. They have shared a longer video by LCN that showcases protestors in Denmark. Originally written in French, in English the article reads : “Several thousand protesters gathered on Saturday in Copenhagen, Denmark and elsewhere in the country to denounce the territorial ambitions of Donald Trump, who continues to display his intention to seize Greenland.” View a screenshot below –
