FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. The footage is actually from Metallica’s iconic 1991 performance in Moscow, not from any protest in 2026. There’s no reliable evidence or credible reporting linking that video to the No Kings demonstrations.
We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the context. The search took us to a Youtube video titled : “Metallica – Enter Sandman Live Moscow 1991 HD” We cross checked and confirmed that the footage shared is from Metallica’s performance and not No Kings Protest. Next, we learnt about the No Kings Protest that took place against US President Donald Trump on March 28, 2026. According to a report by the Guardian, the protest drew more than 8 million people and around 3,300 coordinated events across all 50 U.S. states. The report states that “the third No Kings, organized by a coalition that also includes “anti-authoritarian” groups Indivisible and 50501, labor unions and other grassroots organizations.” View a section of the report below –

Another NPR report also writes about the protests, noting that “Trump’s actions in office are more akin to those of a monarch than a democratically elected leader.’ The report also talks about immigration enforcement and the Iran war, which one protester called a “useless, vain war.” Participants said “people of all kinds are outraged,” highlighting concerns over “cruel conditions” and a growing fear that the country is facing a “very weird moment” politically. Footage from verified protests shows urban streets, signs and speeches not a massive open-field rock concert. Reuters has published an article, showcasing 47 signs from the No Kings Protest on March 28, 2026 but nothing about concerts. No news outlet, organizer statement or eyewitness report from March 28–29, 2026, references Metallica-style concert footage at any of “No Kings” event.
Upon searching for concerts or musical performances during the recent “No Kings” protest, LiveMint wrote about Bruce Springsteen. The report mentions about the “rally featured a headline performance by Bruce Springsteen, who played his song “Streets of Minneapolis.” The song was “in response to the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents and in tribute to the thousands of Minnesotans…” View a screenshot of this below –

The full performance has been uploaded on Bruce Springsteen’s official Youtube channel that can be seen below:
Metallica had not performed during the recent No Kings Protest, rather major news outlet highlight Bruce Springsteen’s performance.
As per Metallica ‘s X account, they are active and are continuing their massive M72 World Tour.
Thus, the claim is false
