Rating : Misleading —

Several social media users have shared a video, claiming that it shows a live stream from Antarctica using Starlink. Verified X user ‘naturel_1919’ shared such a post with the caption : “Thanks to Starlink, Antarctica’s legendary ice wall went live. Isn’t connectivity rewriting exploration?” Attached to the post is a 49 second video and the claim aims to assert that no prior live streaming occurred from Antarctica due to connectivity issues and that this video marks the first via Starlink. Elon Musk also shared this claim on his X account on February 10, 2026 which got around 23 million views. Other users have shared similar claims which can be seen here and here

The English translation of the claim in Telugu reads as: “Starlink Power: Live Streaming from the Ice Continent!”

Remote regions like Antarctica typically lack internet facilities. That’s why, until now, no one has been able to do live streaming from there. However, with the help of Starlink satellite technology, a person has for the first time live streaming the famous ‘Ice Wall’ to the world. Starlink will provide an opportunity to showcase such tourist wonders that have never been streamed before.

FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is misleading. The footage is not from Antarctica but from Patagonia in South America. In fact, the audio at the end clearly says, “Patagonia is truly the most beautiful landscape I’ve ever seen.”

We first conducted a web search with the phrase “Antartica Ice Wall” but did not come across anything substantial. Upon reviewing the video further, we found out that this video is not from Antarctica but from Patagonia. The video’s audio explicitly states, “Patagonia is truly the most beautiful landscape I’ve ever seen,” around the 0:43  timestamp.

Following this, we noticed a timestamp at the top which said “Feb 8, 4:25pm”, giving us a clue that it was a livestream. Kick streamer ‘Ice Poseidon’ streamed this on February 8, 2026 on his channel. The moment showcased in the claim is around 6:44:15 of the original video whose screenshot can be seen below –

Next, we checked Ice Poseidon’s social media handles to get more information to confirm Patagonia as the location. His last Instagram post made on February 8, 2026 is captioned : “Glacier in patagonia fjords” The location tagged in his instagram post is “Patagonia Chile”. View these details below –

Patagonia is not a country but a geographical region. It is a huge territory that belongs mostly to Argentina but includes a small part of Chile too. Communication in Patagonia consists of a mix of 4G/5G mobile networks in towns, limited connectivity on rural roads, and satellite-based systems (specifically Starlink) for remote areas.
Due to the lack of infrastructure in remote areas, Starlink has become crucial for travelers and local, reliable, high-speed, and low-latency access.

Thus, the video claim of live stream from Antarctica’s ‘Ice Wall’ using Starlink is misleading.
