The claim in Hindi after translation reads: “This is the famous bhajan singer Anoop Jalota whose hymns are sung in almost every Hindu’s houses and temples. A few days ago, he had a love affair with a woman 50 years younger to him, and then his character was revealed. Now he went ahead and changed his religion, now he’ll change the name too.”
FACT-CHECK
Our team took it up and searched first on Google using keywords about Anup Jalota and his Islam conversion. While no tangible results appeared, we searched further to find out about the image on Google Reverse Image Search. The results showed that it was from a news item related to Anoop Jalota’s upcoming film.
In the news published on 20 March 2025 by NDTV Hindi news channel, carried the same image of Jalota with other artistes from the film. The news also revealed that the Bhajan Singer Anoop Jalota has not converted but this is a photo of the shooting of his film in which playing double role. The pictures taken during the shooting are being used to claim that he has converted to Islam. 
Similar pictures can be accessed from Anoop Jalota’s Instagram handle here. Sharing the post on 18 March 2025, he wrote, “Excited to be shooting for bharat desh hai mera in the vibrant city of nasik! #Indiancinema #nasik ”. Hence the claim is false.
Claim: Image shared showing Bhajan singer Anup Jalota sporting a beard with a claim that he’s converted to Islam.
Conclusion: Misrepresentation. The picture was taken during the shooting of his upcoming film “Bharat Desh Hai Mera,” which has been shared with a false claim.
