A video is going viral on social media with a claim that SpaceX and Tesla chief Elon Musk is having haircut from a robot. It showed the robot cutting hair and the caption read:
“Hair cut from robot. See what this man build a powerful robot.. Elon Musk is a great man. Unbelievable.”

The claim in Hindi reads: “तकनीक में बड़े बदलाव का कालखंड…आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI) आधारित डोमेस्टिक रोबोट ऑप्टिमस ने एलोन मस्क की हेयर कटिंग की। वो भी एकदम परफेक्ट और समय से। हेयरकटिंग के बाद फीडबैक एक्सचेंज भी हुआ। आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस और रोबोटिक्स की नई दुनिया में आपका स्वागत है.”
Translated into English, it reads: “Artificial Intelligence (AI) based domestic robot Optimus cut Elon Musk’s hair. That too perfectly and on time. There was also a feedback exchange after the haircut. Welcome to the new world of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.”
FACT-CHECK
When Digiteye India received requests on its WhatsApp tipline, we checked on X and came across several other counter claims stating that it was AI-generated video. See the posts on Instagram and X.

Further search on Google resulted in no clue to the video and seeing too many mistakes in video before and after hair cut, we took it up for authenticity check.
Following Google Reverse Image Search of key frames from the video, we came across a post on Instagram by aismartzone, dated 17 December 2024, stating, “this mind-blowing clip is CGI, created with the power of AI tools”.
We then ran the media past AI-content-detection on TrueMedia that showed “substantial evidence of manipulation” in a keyframe of the video. Hence, the video is AI-generated.
Claim: Video shows robot cutting Elon Musk’s hair in salon.
Conclusion: Misleading. The video has been AI-generated with a misleading claim.
