FACT-CHECK
When we received a WhatsApp request, we took out key frames of the video and checked them on Google Reverse Image Search. The results showed that the video was from YouTube, uploaded by ‘Jornal da Record,’ a Brazilian news report on June 4, 2022. See the video here:
The caption in Portuguese, when translated into English reads: “Camera captures moment when sidewalk gives way to woman who falls into hole in Ceará.” The incident was covered by news outlets such as Bhaz and Go Outside. The report says that the 48-year-old woman was walking on a pavement in Cascavel where the hole was covered up by water.
The same video has been flipped as shown above to believe that it’s the other side of the road and claimed as that of an incident that happened in Ayodhya.
Further search on social media revealed that the Ayodhya Police responded to the claim and refuted that it was related to Ayodhya and warned of legal action against those who indulge in spreading misleading videos.
