FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it was totally false. No credible news outlet has reported any such incident. There has been no official confirmation or proof of any such policy by the UK government.
We first conducted a web search with the phrase “UK Government £500 exit visa fee” to learn about the claim. However, we did not find any credible reports or any media outlets covering this. We also checked the visa application fees on the official government website of the UK but did not find any such exit visa fees.
Following this, we learned that there had been a recent Home Office Immigration and Nationality fee update which would be effective from October 21, 2025. This would cover visa applications, sponsorships, and priority services but nothing related to outbound travel. View a screenshot of a section below:

A report by the Economic Times, last updated on October 23, 2025 sheds light on the recent immigration fee hike in the UK. The report notes sharp fee hikes, stating that “expedited processing of sponsorship management requests now costs GBP 350, up 75% from GBP 200,” while “priority service for sponsor licence applications has risen to GBP 750,” a 50% increase. However, there has been no mention of any sort of £500 exit visa fee as falsely shared in the claim. View a section of the report below:

Lastly, we downloaded the audio from the video shared in the claim and put it into an AI voice detector. The results showed that the audio was “Likely AI-Generated” with only 1% of it being anywhere close to real. View a screenshot of the result below:

The £500 fee mentioned is related to optional premium visa services, such as the Priority Visa service, which are entirely voluntary and not required for leaving the country.
Thus, the claim is totally false.
