Is Vadilal ice cream manufacturer adding beef flavour as the package shows Halal Mark? Fact Check

A WhatsApp post is going viral with the claim that Vadilal ice cream adds beef flavour to its products manufactured as the package shows Halal Mark Certification.

(What is Halal Mark Certification — Halal is derived from Arabic that means “permissible” and it refers to things or acts that are legal according to the Islamic law. Because of this, halal Certification lets people know that a business or product follows the rules and regulations about food in the Quran. Halal Certification isn’t just for food but also applies to several goodas and services such as makeup, medicines, and banking, among other things.)

[Translated to English it reads: “The brand of Vadilal ice cream uses beef flavor in its ice cream and that is why Vadilal has printed Halal certificate on the carton, so from today no Hindu should eat Vadilal’s ice cream. All Hindu brothers should boycott it on a large scale and share this post as much as possible.”]
