After the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which left the nation shocked and grieving, the Indian government swiftly responded with a series of strong diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 and the closure of the Check Post at Attari in Punjab, besides visa ban on Pakistani nationals and the expulsion of Pakistani military advisors from New Delhi.
Amid this, a video began circulating on social media platforms, claiming to show the Indian Army started retaliating militarily against Pakistan. The clip shows a uniformed man, said to be an Indian Army commander, shooting at what appear to be lifeless bodies sprawled across a snow-covered mountain. A voice in the background says in Hindi about the shooter’s actions.
The video was widely shared here and here with captions like “Revenge Mission Started” and hashtags linking it directly to the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s military response.
FACY-CHECK
After receiving the request for authenticity of the same, Digiteye India team traced the footage as older one. Using Google Reverse image Search, we checked some key frames of the video and found that the video had been uploaded two years ago on August 16, 2022, on a website called BestGore.fun. The original title of the post was “Indian army executes Kashmiri militants.”
Hence, the video is not the post-Pahalgam response by the Indian Army but an old unrelated video and certainly not connected to the latest events in Pahalgam.
Further digging showed that the same clip—or parts of it—had appeared on social media before, including a post from December 2020 on a Facebook page called “Indian Military Images.” While the exact location and date of the video could not be independently verified, the fact that it predates the attack by several years makes it abundantly clear that it is being shared out of context and with a misleading narrative.
Claim: Video shows Indian Army jawan shooting at a body on the ground with a voice suggesting that the Army has begun taking revenge for Pahalgam attack.
Conclusion: Misrepresentation. The video is two years old and not related to any Indian Army action or revenge as claimed.
Rating: Misrepresentation —
