The context being that the Bharatiya Janata Party defeated the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and came to power after a gap of 27 years. The claim reads after translation as: “For the first time today, Yamuna ji’s Aarti was seen in Delhi. The hope is that now the people of Delhi will get a chance to take a dip in the clean Yamuna and stroll along its banks. Jai Ho.”

FACT-CHECK

When received a tip on its authenticity, Digiteye India team searched for Yamuna Aarti in Delhi and found that the claim was misleading. Archived news reports showed that Yamuna Aarti at the Vasudev Ghat in Delhi’s Civil Lines area was offered way back in March 2024 and has been regularly going on since then every Sunday and Tuesday.

The Vasudev Ghat was constructed by the Delhi Development Authority under the initiative of Vinai Kumar Saxena, then Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. The Vasudev Ghat was inaugurated on March 12, 2024 and some news reports even said that the first Yamuna Aarti was performed in 2015 by then-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Hence, the claims that Yamuna Aarti is being offered for the first time in Delhi after the BJP’s victory in February 2025 is false.

Conclusion: Misleading. Yamuna Aarti at the Vasudev Ghat in Delhi’s Civil Lines area is being regularly offered since March 2024.
