Video misrepresents journalist’s exchange with Indian Army officers as post-Pahalgam development; Fact-Check

A video circulating widely on social media purports to show a journalist confronting Indian Army officers during a press conference, accusing them of refusing to engage militarily with Pakistan.

In the clip, the journalist is heard asking, “What is the army afraid of?” before the officers are seen leaving the venue without responding.

The clip, shared by the account South Asian Perspective on platform X (formerly Twitter), can be viewed here:

FACT-CHECK

Taken for fact-checking by the Digiteye India team, the team took key frames from the video conducted Google Reverse Image Search. The results confirmed that the footage dates back to March 2025 and the video in question is from a press conference related to the Patiala Colonel Assault case, and has no connection to any current military stance against Pakistan. See the original post here:

It is important to note that while tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 2025, there is no evidence to support the claim that the Indian Army has refused to fight Pakistan.

Thus, the video has been misrepresented to imply a narrative that is false and misleading.

Claim: A journalist confronted Indian Army officers over their alleged refusal to fight Pakistan.

Conclusion: Misrepresentation. The video is from an unrelated press conference held in March 2025 regarding the Patiala Colonel Assault case and has been inaccurately linked to Indo-Pak tensions.

Rating: Misrepresentation —
