FACT CHECK

The video actually showcases the Dubai Airport on April 16, 2024 as per the BBC report Here. As the  videos are going viral, DigitEYE India took key frames from the claimed video and did a reverse image search on Google and the results led us to the original video.

In fact, there has been no notice about such a massive flood at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. No major news outlet or the Government of Delhi has released a notice pertaining to the above claims.

The video shared by the users is falsely presented as depicting recent events at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport during rains.

India Today has also shared the original video on 17 April 2024 highlighting how the UAE is grappling with heavy rain. They further mention that many flights have been cancelled. Find the link to the clip Here.

Collin Rugg of Trending Politics had posted the same video on 16 April 2024 on X, affirming the video was from Dubai. He writes how the “Dubai International Airport forced to divert flights after torrential downpour causes the runway to look like an ocean. Citizens are being told to stay inside as thunder, lighting, hail and heavy rain slams the region. Dubai saw more rainfall in one day than they see on average for an entire year, nearly 5 inches.” Find the link to the post Here.

Youtube Short uploaded by TRT World on 17 April 2024 yet again confirms that the video is from the Dubai International Airport. Find the link to the short Here.

Thus, the claim is false. The misrepresentation has led viewers into believing that it was a real condition of the Delhi Airport.
