FACT CHECK
When the Digiteye India team took it up as the very nature looked irrelevant, we took key frames of the video and checked them on Google Reverse Image Search. We found a link to the original video that revealed that the video was actually from a cycle balance adventure game held at Kapilvastu in Nepal. Uploaded by the channel Sachin Bhattarai, the video description box read:
“2nd CYCLE PLANK BALANCE Manik Shrestha has won the title of the second edition of cycle plank balance competition. In the competition organized by the Lions Club of Kapilvastu at Rajapani, a tourist spot located in Banganga Municipality 3, he managed to win the title after taking 1 tenth and 56 seconds to cross the 52-meter track. Anis Tamang from Dharan came second. He crossed the prescribed distance in 1 minute and 25 seconds. Similarly, Subham Bhattai of Kapilvastu from Kapilvastu came third. He took 40.86 seconds to cross the prescribed distance, while Arun Aryal, came fourth.”
The cycle plank balance adventure game was widely shared on YouTube as seen below:
Hence, the video is not from India but from Nepal. Further, the wording of verb as ‘select’ and not as selected shows the intention of a fake caption. Moreover in India, selection for postal staff is based on marks, and merit in selection exam. Hence, the claim is false.
Claim: Video shows meticulous balance of a cycle on plank bridge in waters with a claim that it was how post master selection is done in India.
Conclusion: False. There is no such selection procedure for post master in India and video is from a competition held in Kapilvastu, Nepal.
