Tweaked WhatsApp video shows Rahul Gandhi criticising Congress Party and praising BJP; Fact Check

A video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Madhya Pradesh and speaking at a public meeting is being shared on WhatsApp with a claim that it was “Ultimate truth.” In this video, Rahul Gandhi compares BJP to Congress and confuses their role in such a way that he is seen praising BJP and ending up criticizing his own party.  See the video being shared on WhatsApp here:

FACT CHECK

When the video sound looked suspicious, we ran InVID frame cuts and searched them on Google Reverse Image search to find that the video’s sound track was tweaked to show Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in bad light. We could locate the original video to Rahul Gandhi’s speech at the flag-handover ceremony in Morena, Madhya Pradesh on March 3, 2024. The original video uploaded on Indian National Congress’s official Youtube channel is here:

In above video, watch from 20:11 minutes to 20:30 minutes and you can see Rahul Gandhi clearly criticising BJP and RSS for their ideology while explaining the Congress ideology as the contrary. He did not confuse nor change the roles of the parties while speaking. Clearly, he did not confuse so much to end up criticising his own party as shown in the tweaked video being shared in WhatsApp groups. Hence, the video being circulated on WhatsApp is totally false.

Claim: Video on Rahul Gandhi shows him confusing BJP with Congress, and criticising the latter.
Conclusion: False. The video was tweaked and the sound track was altered to show Rahul Gandhi criticising the Congress Party.

Rating: Totally False — Five rating
