A social media post has been shared widely showing a group of people beating and thrashing a man on road repeatedly. The claim was that the clip was from the recent communal violence in Nuh district of Haryana on July 31.
The message reads in Hindi: “मेवात पर नहीं जागे तो एक दिन तुम्हारा भी अंत ऐसा ही होने वाला है” [Translated in English as: If you don’t wake up on Mewat, then one day your end is also going to be like this.]
सनातनी बंधुओ अब अगर मेवात पर नहीं जागे तो एक दिन तुम्हारा भी अंत ऐसा ही होने वाला है।#मेवात_हिंसा pic.twitter.com/WWyUv0Y59V

Here’s another tweet on the same lines warning Hindus:
As Nuh violence has become notoriously known all over the country due to recent communal clashes, the context has made the video popular on social media platforms. See the twitter post here:

Fact Check
Digiteye India received the request on WhatsApp to check for the authenticity of the video. When we took some key frames of the video on Invid and checked them, the results showed an old video from 2017 incident, that too from Bangladesh, not in India. Here’s a link to the original video clip shared on Twitter way back on April 5, 2017:

As per the local reports in Bangladesh, the violent attack on the man lying on the road occurred on April 5, 2017, when a murder-accused by name Abu Syed was attacked and killed by some people in Daudkandi, Comilla district of Bangladesh. The victim in this video, aged 28, was accused of killing Awami League leader Monir Hossain. A report can be seen here.
In fact, the same video was repeatedly used on several occasion on social media platforms to trigger communal tensions in the country.
Claim: Video shows a victim being attacked and killed on a road in Mewat, Haryana amid communal clashes.
Conclusion: Old video of a mob beating a man to death from Bangladesh on April 5, 2017 was used to pass off as Mewat incident in Haryana recently.
