FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. No reliable reports or supporting evidence were found to substantiate the claim that President Putin issued the United States a 48-hour ultimatum threatening an airstrike. The fighter-jet footage used in the video is from an F-16 Elephant Walk conducted at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea in 2013.

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the origin. The results led us to a Youtube video uploaded by ‘Battlefield Sources’ on 2 February 2013, titled : “F-16 Elephant Walk At Kunsan Air Base – Fighter Jets Line Up On Runway”. DigitEYE noted that the Kunsan Air Base is located in the South Korean Peninsula and is not related to Putin making any threats to America.

Another search result took us to a Youtube video uploaded by ‘AirrSource Military’ on 20 April, 2013, titled : “Massive USAF F-16 Elephant Walk At Kunsan Air Base South Korea”. The description of the video states that the video showcases ‘F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters demonstrate an “elephant walk” formation as they taxi down a runway at Kunsan Air Base.’

Following this, we conducted a web search with the phrase “Putin threatens America with a 48 hour deadline” for more information. Searches of recent Putin remarks return nothing matching the quoted language about a 48-hour deadline or airstrike threat directed at America. No record exists of Putin making this statement on Russian State Media or any official channels.

According to a report by Reuters published on 25 September, 2026, Putin recently commented that all proposals for a settlement in the war with Ukraine remained “on the table,” but Russia would still need to consider its own interests. Putin also said Ukraine would face the consequences of what he described as “provocative attacks” and that Russia would respond with retaliatory strikes. DigitEYE India found no evidence in the available sources to support the claim that Putin threatened America with an airstrike.

Thus, the claim is false.
