FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. The footage shows Australian fans cheering after their national team scored a goal against Denmark during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although Democrats secured a historic victory in Texas in the 2026 US Midterm Elections, the video has no connection to the election results and depicts an entirely different event.

Details:

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the origin. The search took us to a Youtube video uploaded on 1 December, 2022, titled : “Australian Fans Erupt After Winning Goal Against Denmark” The description states that “fans in Melbourne erupted in cheers in the early hours of December 1 when Australia scored their winning goal against Denmark to advance to the World Cup knockout stage.”

The visuals of the above video matches that of the claim, confirming that the claim is false. Moreover, the person who shared the claim has shared a video that was uploaded by X user ‘jamessmartLP’ on November 30, 2022. The post clearly conveys that the celebrations are after a goal at the FIFA World Cup and the location is Federation Square from Melbourne, Victoria. View a screenshot of this below –

Following this, we conducted a web search to learn about Australia versus Denmark at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. We learnt that Australia defeated Denmark 1-0 on November 30, 2022, at Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar during the FIFA World Cup. Mathew Leckie scored the winning goal at the 60th minute.

As for the 2026 US Midterm elections, the BBC reported that Democrats made history in Texas, with James Talarico defeating Republican Ken Paxton to become the first Democrat to win a US Senate seat in the state since 1988. Democrat Gina Hinojosa also defeated Republican incumbent Greg Abbott to become Texas’s first Latina governor. Celebrating the historic victories, Talarico declared, “We just took back Texas,”

Thus the video in the claim shows Australians celebrating after Australia scored a goal against Denmark during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and not about celebrations after the Democrats won Texas in the 2026 US Midterm Elections.

Thus, the claim is false.
