FACT-CHECK
Taking keyframes of the video, Digiteye India team conducted a Google Reverse Image Search and the results showed that the video posted on the official YouTube channel of the Bangladesh-based news portal Dhaka Post was about an incident that took place in Dhaka, when Bangladesh Army personnel had to resort to lathi-charge to disperse a huge crowd that had gathered outside the Bangabandhu National Stadium during a football match.
And, the flag seller was among those hit during the crackdown. Further search on Google News revealed that the incident occurred on June 10, 2025 when the Bangladesh Army resorted to a lathi charge to disperse a large crowd.
News reports said that the Bangladesh Army had later expressed regret over the incident where the flag vendor was beaten and announced him a compensation of 1 lakh Taka. Hence, the claim that it was a BSF jawan thrashing a Bangladeshi flag vendor in West Bengal is false.
