Verified X user ‘Scarlett1437561’ shared such a post with the caption : “Jennifer Aniston gets oil thrown on her while filming” Attached to the video is a 17-second video clip showing the actress in a crowd, reacting in shock as a thick black liquid is splashed over her. The post gained more than 1.9 million views and can be seen below –

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be misleading.The scene was part of a planned shoot for Season 4 of The Morning Show, filmed on the streets of New York City. There were clips shared by channels on 30 July 2024 and on August 4, 2024, Aniston shared behind-the-scenes images on Instagram confirming the staged nature of the scene.
We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the context. The search took us to longer footage uploaded on the Youtube channel of Entertainment Tonight on 30 July, 2024. From the description we learnt that this was not a real life event rather “a sticky situation on-set of ‘The Morning Show!’…a scene for season 4 of the Apple TV+ drama,” View the screenshot of this below –
We then confirmed this with other sources like a Youtube short uploaded by SplashNewTV (on 30 July 2024) in which the cameras on the set are clearly visible. The description further tells us that this incident occurred “on set filming The Morning Show in New York City.” Moreover, in this Youtube short, the casting crew is being given instructions on how the scene will run and Jennifer Aniston is seen practicing with oil already on her.
Following this, we conducted a web search with the phrase “Jennifer Aniston oil scene Morning Show” for any credible reports. We landed on a report by Deadline published on 29 July, 2024 whose headline read : “Jennifer Aniston Gets Oil Thrown At Her While Filming Apple TV+ Series.” The report further mentions “In what seemingly looks like a protest scene, Aniston’s Alex Levy got completely drenched in black substance.”
Another report published by People has written how Aniston herself shared behind-the-scenes Instagram photos on August 4, 2024, showing the aftermath of the fake oil on her costume. The Instagram post uploaded by Aniston is captioned : “I ❤️ NY “ referencing her love for New York filming. No real injury or security incident was reported.
