Several social media users have claimed that Nihang Sikhs have clashed with the police in the recent CJP-led protest in Delhi. Verified X user ‘AlternateMediaX’ shared such a post with the caption : “Nihang Sikhs were seen openly brandishing swords during the CJP protest in Delhi. If the protest was presented as being led by students, why were different anti-India groups present? Abhijeet Dipke should answer for all the violence.” Attached to the video is a 48 second video showcasing the clash with the police. View the post below –

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be misleading. The video if not front the CJP protest in Delhi rather an earlier confrontation between Nihang Sikhs and police in Uttarakhand in June 2026. Although police and CJP protesters did clash during the Delhi demonstrations, the viral footage has been falsely linked to that event.
We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the issue. The search took us to a Youtube video posted by IndiaTV on 27 June, 2026 : “Uttarakhand Nihang Sikh Protest: उत्तराखंड में निहंगों के हंगामे पर पुलिस ने लिया एक्शन | India TV”. In English the title reads : Uttarakhand Nihang Sikh Protest: Police take action over the commotion caused by Nihangs in Uttarakhand | India TV.
From the 0:09 mark, the same footage appears in the YouTube video, confirming that it is unrelated to the claim. According to the video’s description, the footage shows the first group of Nihang Sikhs, who departed from Chandigarh for Hemkund Sahib, entering Uttarakhand on Thursday night after breaking through the Kulhal barrier. The description further states that police took action and that a crucial meeting was held on Friday at Paonta Sahib Gurdwara between the Uttarakhand administration and Nihang Sikh representatives to address the ongoing dispute along the Uttarakhand-Himachal border.
Following this, we conducted a web search with the phrase “Nihang Sikh clash with police along the Uttarakhand-Himachal border” to learn more. According to a report by Mint published on 26 June 2026, “a large group of Nihang Sikhs clashed with the police, pushed through security barricades at the Kulhal checkpoint in Vikasnagar area, Dehradun.” The report further notes that the matter was sorted and “the group returned to Paonta Sahib in Himachal Pradesh in the early hours of Friday following negotiations with authorities.”
Another report published by India Today on June 26, 2026, also covered the clash between Nihang Sikhs and the police. The report states that the Nihang Sikhs had “gathered at the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border” after talks with the state administration broke down over the Karnaprayag clash and the Nagrasu Gurdwara standoff. The report makes no mention of any CJP-led protest, nor does it suggest that the footage shows Nihang Sikhs clashing with police at Jantar Mantar.
There were clashes between CJP protesters and the police in Delhi, with officers using tear gas and baton charges after thousands of students and supporters attempted to march towards Parliament. The police also forcibly removed hunger-striking activist Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital and multiple protesters were injured during the crackdown.
However, the footage in the claim is not from the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar or these clashes.
Thus, the claim is misleading.
