Did Rahul Gandhi say Modi is going to become PM again? Fact Check

A sensational and irrational video is being shared on WhatsApp where the Opposition Congress Party leader Rahul Gandhi was heard saying at a public rally that Narendra Modi is going to become the Prime Minister of India again. It was also shared on X as seen here:

FACT-CHECK

Digiteye India took it up as it is sensational and coming after four of seven phases of Lok Sabha elections are held.

It’s highly unlikely and irrational to expect Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak in favour of Modi. Secondly, the lip-syncing is visibly different, suggesting that the voice track has been altered. Further, we checked on the Indian National Congress (INC) official website and its social media handle on Twitter.

In response to this video, the INC has quickly denied the claim and put out a comparison of the fake versus true version of the video as seen here:

Further, the INC stated, “डूबती हुई BJP और नरेंद्र मोदी की फेक न्यूज फैक्ट्री को अब फेक वीडियो का ही सहारा है। आदतन राहुल गांधी जी के भाषण को कांट-छांटकर झूठा वीडियो बनाया और फिर रंगे हाथों पकड़े गए। आप खुद देख लें  [Translated into English, it reads: The sinking BJP and Narendra Modi’s fake news factory now have to rely only on fake videos. As per his habit, he edited Rahul Gandhi’s speech and made a fake video and was then caught red-handed. You can see it yourself 👇”.]

Hence, the video claim is totally false.

Claim: Video shows Rahul Gandhi saying Modi to become PM again.

Conclusion: The claim is false. Rahul Gandhi’s voice has been altered to show him saying Modi will become PM again.

Rating: Totally False — Five rating
