Did Chandrababu Naidu leave hall upset over ministries allocated to TDP in NDA Govt? Fact Check

Ahead of the swearing-in of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on June 12, 2024, a video started circulating on social media showing him yelling in Telugu and storming out of a hall. The claim says that Naidu was enraged purportedly over the allocation of seats for TDP in the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government at the Centre.

The NDA government at the Centre was sworn in on June 9, 2024, and the allocation of portfolios was announced the next day.

 

 

FACT-CHECK

First, we checked for the original video, taking some key frames and conducting Google Reverse Image Search. Several old videos from November 2021 came up in the results. Further check on Google search on enraged Naidu showed results about his walkout from the Assemly on November 19, 2021, when he vowed in the assembly in Telugu that he would never return to the Assembly unless as Chief Minister again.

The search on relevant key words resulted in news reports and one such was titled : “I don’t need this politics: Chandrababu Walkout from Assembly.” It was also uploaqded by MAA News as seen below:

Even other Telugu TV channels had shared the video when enraged Naidu alleged insult from the then ruling YCP members and pledged not to return until he’s voted back to power. He then swiftly staged a walkout from the Andhra Assembly. The incident took place on November 19, 2021 as reported widely in the media. Hence, the claim is false.

Claim: Video shows NDA partner Chandrababu Naidu storming out of the meeting upset over non-allocation of key ministries to his party at the Centre.

Conclusion: The claim is false. An old video of Naidu walking out of AP Assembly over alleged derogatory remarks on his wife in November 2021 was used to claim he was angry at the NDA government formation.
