Digiteye India examined the viral video using Google Reverse Image Search and keyframe analysis. The result showed that the clip is not recent. It is from a 2021 interview conducted by film critic Anupama Chopra for Film Companion.
The full video, dated 20 September 2021, is available on YouTube. Around the 25:03 timestamp, Chopra asked about Dosanjh’s Bollywood career. In response, he says the same quote now going viral, asserting his independence from the industry’s gatekeepers. in fact, the entertainment media too covered the interview here and here.
Hence, the remarks were made years before the release or controversy around Sardaar Ji 3, and are unrelated to the present situation.
As per recent coverage in The Indian Express and The Times of India dated 25 June, 2025, Dosanjh clarified in a BBC Asian Network interview that the film was shot well before the attack. Due to subsequent developments, the producers have opted for an overseas release, as its Indian theatrical release has been deferred.
