A video of police personnel grabbing and dragging individuals, including a person wearing a yellow turban, is being shared on social media platforms amid protests by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and supporters against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21, 2024.


The claim associated with the video suggests that it shows Delhi Police apprehending Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. As of now, a Facebook post of the claim and video by ‘The Live TV‘ had garnered approximately 35,000 views and was shared by over 700 users.

Digiteye India’s fact-checking reveals that the claim is false. The video captures Delhi Police detaining Punjab’s Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, who was reportedly en route to Kejriwal’s residence on March 22, 2024 after Delhi CM Arvnd Kejriwal’s arrest.

Verification methods included utilizing Google Lens to isolate the video portion of the viral claim and conducting a Google Reverse Image Search. This led to a YouTube video dated March 22, 2024, with a Punjabi caption that is translated into English as: “Sikh Minister Harjot Bains was pushed onto the road by the police.”

Bains himself reshared a post featuring the same video on his social media account, clarifying that it depicted his detention by Delhi Police. On March 23, Bains stated that he had been detained by Delhi Police and taken to an undisclosed location, emphasizing that his protest was peaceful.

Hence, the claim that Punjab chief minister Balwant Singh Mann was arrested during the protests in Delhi was false. the video depicts Punjab minister Harjot Singh Bains being taken by the Delhi Police.
