DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be misleading. Although the video is genuine, it does not capture celebrations in Spain following the country’s 2026 FIFA World Cup triumph over Argentina. The footage actually shows supporters of Polish club Wisła Kraków celebrating the team’s promotion to the Ekstraklasa, Poland’s top-flight football league, in May 2026.

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn more about it. The search took us to a Youtube short which was uploaded on 29 May, 2025, titled : “This Is How Wisła Kraków Fans Celebrated Promotion 🇵🇱”. From the description, we learnt that “Wisła Kraków fans took over the streets to celebrate the club’s promotion back to the Ekstraklasa…Thousands gathered in Kraków as the historic club returned to Poland’s top division.”
Using this information, we searched for additional versions of the video to verify its authenticity and establish its original context. We found the same footage uploaded as a YouTube Short titled “INSANE scenes as Wisła Kraków fans celebrate promotion back to the Ekstraklasa.” The description states that it shows Wisła Kraków fans celebrating their return to the Ekstraklasa after the club’s match against Cracovia Kraków on May 23, 2026.
Next, we conducted a web search with the phrase “Wisla Krakow fans celebrate promotion back to Ekstraklasa” for news reports. A report by TVP World also featured the viral footage, along with another video of the same celebration filmed from a different aerial angle. The report notes that “Wisła Kraków, one of Poland’s most famed clubs, secured promotion to Ekstraklasa, the country’s top football division, following over four years of hiatus.”
Additionally, around 50,000 supporters gathered in Kraków’s Main Square on May 24, 2026, where they celebrated by “singing, chanting, and waving banners,” creating “a vibrant atmosphere without a single major incident reported.” View a screenshot from the report below –
Another report by Reuters also confirms that thousands of “fans of Wisla Krakow Polish football club gathered at the Main Square of the Old Town to celebrate promotion to the Ekstraklasa Poland’s top football league. Krakow, Poland on May 24th, 2026.”Moreover, Reuters published a photo gallery of Wisła Kraków fans celebrating the club’s promotion to the Ekstraklasa, and the surrounding buildings and statue visible in the images match those seen in the viral footage.
