FACT CHECK

When Digiteye India team took it up for fact-checking, we found that AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had raised the issue on Twitter and tagged Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for his reply on the claim. The concerned minister, Uttam Kumar Reddy replied stating that the claim was false. He wrote, “Asad, this news of cancellation of ration cards is totally false. Let me assure you, not one single ration card has been cancelled anywhere in the state by our Government. ”
Here’s his reply:

Further, when we checked news outlets, there was no such news anywhere, and the issue never came up anywhere on TV news channels either. Such a negative move would have attracted huge criticism and news coverage as one lakh beneficiaries losing their ration cards is big news in any state.

Hence, the claim is false.

Claim: Telangana government cancelled 95,040 ration cards in Medchal district.

Conclusion: There is no move to cancel ration cards in Telangana as claimed.
