Claim: Video allegedly shows DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat speaking about Agni 6 ballistic missiles being washed in cow urine for purification.

Conclusion: The claim is totally false. The attached video is a digitally manipulated deepfake with AI-generated audio. No such statements were made by Dr. Kamat, and the original video contains audio that is entirely different and unrelated to the one used in the claim.

Rating: Totally false Five rating

Social media users have claimed that DRDO ( Defence Research and Development Organisation) Chairman, Dr. Samir V Kamat has allegedly made some statements about missiles washed in cow urine. X user ‘Lovely92698976’ shared such a post with the caption (translated in English) : “God Modi had earlier instructed to wash the Agni 6 missile with cow urine. When rust started appearing, cow dung was used instead. The rust-eaten brains of Gomutra-obsessed scientists in India have taken up the contract to destroy the country. Tomorrow, even the world won’t buy such dung-filled missiles.”

The post includes a 44-second video purporting to show DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat making these statements in an ANI interview. View the post below –

(Currently the account has been withheld in India)

Complete transcript of the video : “We are making significant changes to the Agni-6 ballistic missile programme. Prime Minister Modi specifically told us that all missiles should be washed with pavitra cow urine before they are made. First, we soak the missile parts in urine, but they started getting rust. So, now we are using a mixture of cow dung and urine to prevent rust. As you know, cow dung is also anti-bacterial. So, now our missile is uncontaminated. This is the secret ingredient behind the robust Indian missile programme.”

FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be completely false. The video in question has been altered using deepfake technology, with AI-generated audio added. Dr. Kamat never made these statements, and the original footage contains completely different audio that has no connection to the claim.

We first conducted a web search with the phrase “DRDO Chairman comment on Agni 6 missile” to learn more. The results took us to a X post by ANI uploaded on April 30, 2026 captioned : “#WATCH | ANI National Security Summit 2.0 | On Agni-VI ballistic missile, DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat says, “It is the government’s decision. We are ready whenever the government gives us the go-ahead.” View the post uploaded by ANI below –

Following this, we conducted a web search to get the full video footage using the phrase “DRDO Chairman ANI interview” on Youtube. We landed on the full length footage uploaded by ANI on 30 April, 2026 titled : “In 65 Min Defence experts share all about AMCA Push, Missile strategy, 6 Gen fighter aircraft & more” View a screenshot of this below –

At 58:40 the reporter addresses a question to the panel : “The audience wants to ask all three of you, does India need a long-range strategic missile like what we know about the Agni-6? If yes, by when is it coming?” In response to this Dr. Kamat says : “It is the government’s decision. We are ready whenever the government gives us the go-ahead.” (This particular clip has been altered using deepfake technology, with AI-generated audio and used in the claim).

As one can see in the video, there is zero mention of cow urine, cow dung, rust prevention, “purification,” or any instructions from PM Modi regarding animal products.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has also debunked this claim and stated : “A digitally manipulated video circulating on social media falsely attributes remarks to Dr Samir V Kamat, DRDO Chairman.” The post further notes, “The audio of the video is AI-generated” and “DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat did NOT make any such remarks.”

Searches of DRDO statements, Ministry of Defence releases and recent Agni-6 coverage yield no mention of cow products in missile production or maintenance.

Thus, the claim is false.
