Several social media users have shared a video and claimed that Selena Gomez was sending a signal for help. Verified X user ‘MattWallace888’ shared such a post with the caption : “Selena Gomez puts a heart shape in her hair pointing to her crying rose tattoo. I don’t believe she has a choice of of she is with Benny Blanco or not… but she knows what will happen if she speaks out directly.” The post can be seen below

FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. No credible evidence indicates that Gomez was using her hairstyle as a distress signal. Furthermore, the tattoo on her back is not known as a “crying rose.” It is a matching friendship tattoo inspired by Cara Delevingne, who affectionately calls Gomez “Rosebud.”

Details:

We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video tagged by the author to learn more about the context. The search took us to an Instagram reel that showcased the footage and mentions that Gomez and Blanco “arrived to support Gomez’s ‘Only Murders in the Building’ co-star Martin Short’s new documentary, ‘Marty, Life is Short’ in Los Angeles on May 6, 2026.” Gomez can be seen getting out of the car and attending to her fans as Blanco walks first.

However, the clip alone does not provide sufficient evidence to conclude that there is tension or a rift between the couple. Gomez and Blanco may have moved separately for logistical or security reasons. Furthermore, Gomez does not appear to be distressed or to be drawing attention to her tattoo. Instead, she is seen smiling and greeting her fans. Following this, we searched about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s relationship to learn more.

According to a PEOPLE report published on July 4, 2026, Selena Gomez and her husband, Benny Blanco, made a glamorous appearance at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding in New York City. The outlet reported that the couple “proudly watched on” as Swift and Kelce exchanged vows, while Gomez “shined” in a gold Oscar de la Renta gown and Blanco “kept it classic” in a black tuxedo. View a section from the report below –

Their public appearance reflected a happy and supportive relationship, with no signs of any forced interactions or any cry for help. Another report by IMDb, published on 4 July, 2026, shared a photo of the couple, noting that Gomez “snuggled up to Benny for a selfie that she snapped before heading to the party.” DigitEYE India did not find any credible reports suggesting that Gomez intentionally styled her hair to draw attention to her tattoo.

Next, we searched about the rose tattoo and according to a PEOPLE report published on January 10, 2022, Selena Gomez’s rose tattoo had a personal meaning. Speaking on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Gomez explained that the tattoo “means a couple of different things” and revealed it was inspired by her close friend Cara Delevingne. Gomez further said that Delevingne “calls me Rosebud,” explaining that it is her nickname, and added, “I’ve always wanted a rose and now I got one, and I love it.”

The report also noted that Delevingne received a matching dripping rose tattoo, while Gomez said she has “multiple” friendship tattoos with people who have “left a significant mark” on her life. At no point did the report suggest that the tattoo is a “crying rose” rather it was something joyous.

Thus, the claim is false.
