A tweet on X with a screenshot claiming to show a post by Elon Musk, owner of the social media platform, is doing the rounds. The trigger was a user’s warning about someone spreading a “hoax that you’re a pedophile.” Soon a reply purportedly made by Musk appeared and it reads: “That was no hoax. I am a pedophile.”

The post went viral that it received around 28,000 likes in one day, dragging more users to discuss it.
FACT CHECK
Digiteye India took it up as it looked suscipicious at the very first glance. Usually, Musk’s Twitter account has a button to SUBSCRIBE in violet color while the one stating “I am a pedophile” has a “follow” button.
Further, we checked Musk’s feed and found no such tweet nor any deleted posts as per the Social Blade‘s statistics to show that it was from his account. Hence, this is a photoshopped tweet’s copy that is making rounds on Twitter.
Claim: Elon Musk replied positive to a tweet stating that he was a pedophile.
Conclusion: False, no such reply was made from Elon Musk’s X or Twitter account.
