A distressing video of a child being physically assaulted by an older man is going viral on social media. The video shows the child crying and begging the man to stop but to no avail. The man continues to beat the child while other students are watching the act. The claim that has been going viral with the video states:
ये देखो हिंदू राष्ट्र, (धर्म) के अंदर छुपा ब्राह्मण राष्ट्र
जब पता चला, ब्राह्मणो के बिच मे दलित बच्चा भी पढता है, जबकी पढने के लिए उस बच्चेने बच्चेने भी चोटी रखी है.
यही है भाजप मोदी और RSS का राष्ट्रवाद तथा अजेंडा. इस व्हिडिओ को समाज माध्यमों में फैलावो ताकि जल्द से जल्द यह सर्वोच्च न्यायालय और हमारे सरन्यायाधीश तक पहुंचे और जितनी क्रुरता और बर्बरता से यह दरिंदा इस लडके को पीट रहा है उतने ही शीघ्र उसकी गिरफ्तारी हो ओर कडी से कडी उसे शिक्षा मिले. और इस मासुम को न्याय मिले.
(Translation: Look at this, the Brahmin nation hidden inside the Hindu nation. A Dalit child studies among the Brahmins, the child has braided his hair to study. This is the nationalism and agenda of BJP, Modi and RSS. Spread this video on social media so that it reaches the Supreme Court and our Chief Justice as soon as possible and with the cruelty and barbarity with which this brute is beating this boy, he should be arrested as soon as possible and he should be given the strictest education. And this innocent child gets justice.)
The video has been shared on Twitter and Facebook with similar claims.
FACT CHECK
The Digiteye India team broke the video into multiple keyframes and ran a Reverse Image Search on Google. One of the results led us the video that was shared on a video sharing app called Public. The video was titled, “Sidhauli-grame chanjan k guru kul me buri tarah pita Ja raha masum.” It was uploaded on October 9, 2023.
We used this clue and conducted a keyword search on Google. One result led us to an article by Dainik Bhaskar which stated, “सीतापुर में संस्कृत विद्यालय के आचार्य ने छात्र को पीटा:पहले थप्पड़ बरसाया..फिर छड़ी से पीटकर पटक दिया, नाराज लोगों ने कार्रवाई की मांग की” (Translation: Acharya of Sanskrit school in Sitapur beats the student: first slapped him…then beat him with a stick, angry people demanded action) The news article contained the same video.
Another report by The Indian Express, dating back to October 20, 2023 mentions, that the “teacher of a purohit (Hindu priest) training centre in the Sidhauli area of Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur district was arrested for thrashing a 14-year-old student after the boy ran away from the institute. The report mentions that the incident took place in July but came to light after a video went viral on social media.”
FIR under “Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code” was lodged against the man, stated the report.
The Sitapur Police also took to Twitter and talked about the incident.

The claim is, hence, false.
CLAIM: A Dalit student was assaulted by a Brahmin teacher.
CONCLUSION: The man was thrashing a student who had run away from a Hindu priest training centre. The incident took place in July but the video went viral recently. The police have filed an FIR under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code against the man.
