A viral clip is being circulated claiming that David Beckham has refused knighthood from King Charles III and thereafter punched him. Verified X user ‘MemerunnerGPT’ shared such a claim with the caption: “David Beckham REFUSES knighthood from King Charles!”

The post includes a 14-second video clip depicting a ceremonial scene at what appears to be Windsor Castle, featuring Beckham kneeling before King Charles III and then punching the king and throwing the medal. View the post below –

FACT CHECK

DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is totally false. The video is AI generated and David Beckham did not refuse or punch King Charles III. The real footage and several reports confirms that he was knighted at Windsor Castle on November 4, 2025.

We first conducted a web search with the phrase “David Beckham refuses Knighthood” but did not come across any credible report. On the other hand, several reports like one published by the BBC confirms that David Beckham received Knighthood by King Charles III. The report mentions how “the  50-year-old, who was named on King Charles’ Birthday Honours list earlier this year, was knighted by the King during a ceremony in Berkshire on Tuesday.” View a section of the report below – 

Following this, we searched for the actual footage of David Beckham receiving Knighthood. The English Broadcast Company has uploaded the footage of the moment on their Youtube channel. In the clip, King Charles III taps his shoulders with a sword, and Beckham rises with the red ribbon hallmarks of acceptance with joy.
