DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be true. The video shows a genuine incident that took place at Disneyland Paris in 2022. Following the incident, Disney released an official apology and proposed compensation, but the couple chose not to accept it.

We first conducted a reverse image search on several keyframes from the video to trace its origin.
This led us to a YouTube Short published by ViralHog on June 7, 2022, titled “Disneyland Employee Interrupts Proposal After Man Got Permission | ViralHog.” According to the description, the incident took place on May 21, 2022, in Paris, France. It states, “A cast member at Disneyland interrupted my proposal after I got permission to propose on the platform in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle.” A screenshot of this is shown below –
Following this, we came upon a report by the Daily Mail published back in June 6, 2022 that also writes about this incident. The report mentions “couple’s magical moment at Disneyland Paris has been snatched away by an overzealous member of staff wearing Mickey Mouse ears.” The footage shared in the report matches that provided in the claimed post.
We also learnt that Disney publicly acknowledged the mishandling and apologized. As per a People’s report, Disney told the New York Times (in 2022) that they wanted “to make things right with the couple involved.“ They reiterated: “We have offered our sincere apologies to the couple concerned and we will do everything we can to make this up to them.” View a screenshot of this section below –
A more recent DailyMail report published on April 7, 2026 accounts for the public backlash against the Disneyland employee. The report mentions that people expressed their dissatisfaction against the employee. Some comments include : “’A few more seconds would not have killed him,” “He just ruined a lifetime memory,” and calls for the employee’s firing.
Lastly, we searched for specific reasons as to why the employee reacted in such a manner. According to a Boredpanda report, the platform in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland Paris was restricted to guests and fenced off. The report says that the platform “is surrounded by equipment and fireworks, which would pose a safety risk for anyone who’s not supposed to be there.
