Several social media users have shared a video, claiming that China has entered 60 km inside India’s border in Arunachal Pradesh. Facebook user ‘Nabil Alam’ shared such a claim with the caption (translated into English) : “China’s soldiers entered within 60 kilometers inside the border in Arunachal Pradesh, India “ Attached to the post is a video showing a large group of people, along with Hindi text overlaid on the footage that reiterates how China has entered 60 kms into Arunachal Pradesh. FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be misleading. The viral video is from the Amarnath Yatra and has no connection to any alleged Chinese advance into Arunachal Pradesh. The Arunachal Pradesh Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and the Press Information Bureau (PIB), have also clarified that similar claims are false.
Details:
We first conducted a reverse image search on various keyframes of the video to learn about the origin. The search took us to an Instagram video uploaded by user ‘sushil_saini_mr_max’ on July 4, 2026. The caption of the video is : “Public & Army Reaction बालटाल यात्रा (Baltal Yatra) Day – 2” alongside tags of Public & Army Reaction बालटाल यात्रा Day – 2.
The text overlaid on the original video reads, “तत्काल रजिस्ट्रेशन & RFID Card, बालटाल, लाइव अपडेट” or in English : “Instant registration and RFID card, Baltal, live update”. The text clearly refers to registration updates for the Amarnath Yatra at Baltal and makes no mention of China or any claim about Chinese forces entering 60 km into Arunachal Pradesh.
Baltal is one of the main base camps for the Amarnath Yatra and is located in the Ganderbal district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, a barricade bearing the words “J&K Police” is clearly visible in the footage, further confirming that the video was recorded in Jammu and Kashmir, not along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh. Lastly, we came across posts from both the Arunachal Pradesh Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and the Press Information Bureau (PIB) that have debunked similar claims. Even though the videos are different, they propagate the same misleading claim about China invading 60 km into Arunachal Pradesh. PIB in their X post flagged such fake claims and Arunachal DIPR reposted the same.
