No, Rahul Gandhi didn’t announce free mobile recharge in 2024 general elections

A post is going viral on social media with a claim that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has announced a ‘3-month free mobile recharge’ offer to all Indian citizens to promote chances for Congress win in the 2024 general elections.

The message provided a link to avail the offer and the same has been found misleading using a wrong BJP link in our earlier fact-check.

FACT CHECK

First, we searched whether Rahul Gandhi had made any such announcement of providing free mobile recharge for voters, which was never found anywhere. If true, it would have hit the headlines. Secondly, a similar claim was made earlier citing PM Narendra Modi and the Digiteye India had already debunked the claim here.

Similarly, we found the new message too was never made by Rahul Gandhi or the Indian National Congress. Further, the link provided in the post is not affiliated with the Indian National Congress. The domain “limitedoffer.xyz” was registered in November 2023.

Claim: Rahul Gandhi has announced a ‘3-month free mobile recharge’ offer to all Indian citizens

Conclusion: False, Rahul Gandhi never made any free mobile recharge offer ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Rating: Misrepresentation —
