A clip has been circulating around social media, showcasing a scene from the movie, ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’ (1992) directed by Chris Columbus. Instagram user ‘americanlaugh’ shared a reel, allegedly from the movie where Kevin (played by Macaulay Culkin) asks Donald Trump for directions to Mr. Epstein. The reel gained more than 980,000 likes which can be viewed below –

Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy financier who was arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking involving minors; he died in jail later that year under controversial circumstances. According to several reports, he was linked to high profile figures including Donald Trump.
FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found that it is totally false. The original scene from movie ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)’ features no such dialogue. Though the movie has same scene with child actor and Donald Trump but with different dialogies. The audio in the claim is edited and the original dialogues have been overlaid through audio alteration.
To verify the claim, we conducted a Google search with the phrase “Donald Trump in Home Alone 2”, we came across several clips on Youtube which revealed the original clip from the movie scene.The actual exchange is: Kevin asks, “Excuse me, where’s the lobby?” and Trump replies, “Down the hall and to the left.” This is verified through multiple videos like one which can be seen here.
Upon reviewing the transcript of Home Alone 2 : Lost in New York to verify the dialogues, we found no mention of Epstein anywhere. View the transcript below :

As many know this scene was shot in Trump-owned ‘The Plaza’ hotel in which Trump made a cameo role.
Further search on Trump’s cameo role in the movie led us to a report published by the Guardian in 2023. The director of the movie Chris Columbus said that Trump “bullied his way into” the movie while Trump claimed that Columbus was “begging me to make a cameo appearance”. Another article published on April 14, 2025 by the San Francisco Chronicle reports how the director Chris Columbus said that he can’t cut the clip because he will “probably be sent out of the country…considered sort of not fit to live in the United States”, likely a jab sarcastically referring to the Trump administration’s recent mass deportations plans. This article also features the original clip of the movie with no mention of Epstein. View a snippet from the article below:

No mainstream media, film archives, or official releases support the altered dialogue. The audio in the claimed video is edited, overlaying the original audio.
