A letter is being circulated around social media allegedly issued by the MEA, India which extends “full and unconditional cooperation” in the Bondi Beach shooting investigation in Australia. On December 16, 2025, verified X user ‘RomiAlerts’ shared an image purportedly of a Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) letter dated December 15, 2025.
The post implies the document exemplifies evasive “diplomatic letters offering support without accountability,” linking it to the Sydney incident involving Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram. View the post below alongside the letter –
It’s becoming harder to ignore how disinformation ecosystems operate when crises occur. A mass shooting occurred on December 15, 2025, during a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, killing 15 people and injuring 25. Australian police classified it as a terrorist attack inspired by ISIS ideology, marking Australia’s deadliest mass shooting since 1996. According to a report by ABC news, the perpetrators used licensed firearms, with evidence of prior “military-style training” in the Philippines. Sajid Akram, 50, was killed in a police shootout at the scene; his son Naveed, 24 is hospitalized and charged with various offences.
