FACT CHECK
DigitEYE India decided to investigate this claim and found it to be false. The images appear to be AI-generated, and no official announcement regarding such a jacket has been made by the Portugal national team. Furthermore, the jacket shown in the images bears a Nike logo, despite Portugal having ended its long-standing partnership with Nike and beginning a new agreement with Puma on January 1, 2025.
Details:
We first conducted a reverse image search with the phrase “Portugal Football New new jacket 2026” to learn more. However, we did not find any news outlets or official posts from Portugal’s team that confirm such a news. Instead, we landed on an article by ESPN published on June 7, 2026 that showcases Portugal’s official home and away jersey for the FIFA World cup 2026.

Following this, we noticed that PUMA is the official partner of Portugal and not Nike, whose logo appears in the claim. Upon searching further, we found a New York Times report published on November 27, 2024, which stated that the “Portugal Football Federation (FPF) has signed a new long-term deal with Puma, ending their 27-year partnership with Nike.” The report further noted that the deal “comes into effect on January 1, 2025” and that “Puma will produce the kits for the Portugal men’s and women’s national teams.”

Lastly, we downloaded the image in the claim and ran it through Hive Moderation’s AI detector to check the authenticity. The results proved that the image is generated using AI and is not authentic. View a screenshot of the results below –

Thus, the claim is false.
